Research abstract

Not Available Development of a Flexible, Broad band, High Power Projector is proposed to improve the utility and reliability of the AN/SLQ-25A torpedo defense system. Key attributes of the design proposed include reel stowage, ease of deployment/retrieval, improvedreliability, reduced maintenance, and improved crew safety. The proposed flexible projector employs high strength ropes and flexible hose wall construction to provide high tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and ease of handling. The flexible projectoris expected to eliminate the need for connector maintenance between retrieval and re-deployment, thereby dramatically reducing failures associated with marine connector handling and maintenance, and decreasing total ownership cost.
