Research abstract

In this project, we will develop anti-corrosive and anti-reflective metallic surfaces for Air Force (AF) applications. AlchLight founding members have invented and pioneered non-coating laser surface processing technology that turns regular metal surfaces superhydrophobic and superblack. Here, we will apply our technology to important aircraft materials, i.e., titanium alloys such as Ti 6-4, to turn them superhydrophobic and superblack. More importantly, we will demonstrate the laser-treated surfaces also have anti-corrosion and anti-reflectivity effects, enabling a range of AF applications.
