Research abstract

WE WILL DESIGN A COMPUTER-ASSISTED CONSUMERS GUIDE TO PROVIDE CONSUMERS IN THE DISABILITY COMMUNITY AND HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS DETAILED INFORMATION AS TO THEIR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) WITH REGARD TO ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE SERVICES. THE ADA AND ITS REGULATIONS WILL BE CAREFULLY RESEARCHED. INPUT WILL BE OBTAINED FROM MEMBERS OF THE DISABILITY COMMUNITY AND HEALTH CARE PROVIDER ORGANIZATIONS AS TO THE TYPE OF QUESTIONS THAT THEY HAVE ABOUT THE ADA. A COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE SOFTWARE PACKAGE WILL BE PICKED IN WHICH TO BUILD THE CONSUMERS GUIDE; THE CONSUMERS GUIDE WILL BE DESIGNED; AND THE DESIGN WORK WILL BE DOCUMENTED. FINALLY, A SAMPLE OR MODEL OF THE GUIDE WILL BE BUILT THAT WILL DEMONSTRATE HOW A PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER CAN DETERMINE WHETHER A PATIENT IS INCLUDED UNDER THE ACT.
