Research abstract
Not Available The bandwidth required to drive infrared (IR) emitter arrays, used in hardware-in-the-loop simulators, has been increasing exponentially. Advanced mega-pixel arrays are taxing the controllers, pixel buffers and processing electronics needed to drive these arrays. As array resolution and frame rates increase, the bandwidth required to drive these arrays will only increase. InterSpace, Inc. has developed a unique array driver architecture that will not only satisfy current bandwidth requirements of IR emitter arrays, but is also expandable in memory capacity, bandwidth and functionality. By taking advantage of recent advances in high-speed mega-cell field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and direct Rambus memories, InterSpace, Inc. will develop an IR emitter array driver with sufficient bandwidth and flexibility to meet the needs of current and future arrays.
