Research abstract
Software will be developed to commercialize the newly invented sinusoidal voltammetry. This requiredesign, coding and validation of a software system that can drive a potentiostat at a fundamental frtime operate in the frequency domain to resolve the amplitudes and phase angles of the relevant highcurrent signal. In Phase I, the software will be created for the creation and acquisition of sinusoiand the real-time spectral resolution of harmonics. It will be tested with simulated data and with asystem, employing both model and actual electrochemical electrodes. In Phase II, the software will ba our general MS Windows electrochemistry software system. By the use of a hardware lock-in amplifieimplementation that detects only one harmonic, sinusoidal voltammetry has been shown to offer limitsbetter than most traditional electroanalytical methods (e.g.,fast scan cyclic voltammetry, differentsquare wave voltammetry, and dc amperometry) when used on the millisecond time scale. The off-line sof sinusoidal data has shown a wealth of information in the frequency domain that can be used to enhand selectivity of the method.National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)
