Research abstract

Corvid Technologies will develop a prototype airframe of a low-cost hypersonic readiness assessment vehicle (RAV) and demonstrate the interior packaging of avionics and instrumentation components. Corvid will perform testing on the airframe prototype to validate predicted structural margins and demonstrate the suitability of the design for highly stressing hypersonic flight.  In addition to the airframe, Corvid will develop a shroud system to protect the vehicle during boost, as well as a separation system to deploy the vehicle once it reaches insertion conditions.  These systems will be adaptable to a variety of unguided solid rocket motors, giving mission flexibility and eliminating the cost and complexity associated with boost-stage guidance and control.
