Research abstract

The SC-21 Modeling and Simulation Master Plan states that Modeling and Simulation must lead the way in investigating cost/performance estimates of alternative joint task force structure concepts. That policy is particularly important to the SC-21 program, because of its aggressive approach to the design and modeling process as well as innovative characteristics of the SC-21 architecture. We propose to develop M&S based wide-area process support architecture for the SC-21 Ship Information Syste (SIS) architecture. Intelligent Systems Technology, Inc. (ISTI) is uniquely qualified to perform on this effort because of our considerable M&S technology base, and commercialization initiatives. Our tools are based on an information infrastructure consisting of CORBA-compliant agent architectures, Java, HTML, and VRML, and commercial repositories. This architecture has been proven in DARPA's Agile Manufacturing Initiative for virtual enterprise formation and customer-supplier integration. We propose to extend and adapt this architecture and toolkit for the SC-21 program and to demonstrate its use on a key SC-21 SIS subsystem.
