Research abstract
Hatchuel Tabernik & Associates proposes to field test a new, on-line database service
[KidSystems] for school-linked and school-day programs — supporting the accurate and timely measurement of student attendance, service provision, and outcome measures across a variety of supportive and educational services. KidSystems provides district, school-day, after school staff, evaluators and administrators with real time data on student activities and outcomes. These data inform program planning, improved focusing of resources on individual student needs, and evaluation of programs at the site, cluster and district levels. Because KidSystems is web-based and secured by the latest technology, individuals with a web browser can access the system without specialized software, but authorized users will be able to access only those data for which they have appropriate permissions. KidSystems has been designed to accurately and securely upload data from a variety of heritage data systems in use within participating school districts. KidSystem’s user interfaces are designed for ease of data entry by many individuals simultaneously, and it provides both standardized reports and user-defined queries in an intuitive and accessible manner. HTA believes that KidSystems will promote high quality and sustainable school-linked and school-day services that support the goals of No Child Left Behind.
