Research abstract
Due to recent advancements in internet and computing technologies, there is a high demand for large transfers of data over short periods of time. To achieve these data transfers, this project will develop a unified provisioning tool to simplify end-to-end path creation across a multi-layered MPLS-GMPLS multi-domain infrastructure. A provisioning manager will house a unique algorithm that promises to cut the path setup times considerably. The proposed solution will make the migration of an MPLS-only network to a MPLS-GMPLS infrastructure seamless. The proposed solution will be tested over both a laboratory-based testbed and a real WAN testbed, in order to verify and demonstrate functionality. Commercial Applications and other Benefits as described by the awardee The technology should assist many networks that have been holding back the migration from the MPLS infrastructure to the GMPLS infrastructure because of complexities in dealing with multi-layer path provisioning.
