Research abstract

BOTH SEQUENTIAL AND PARALLEL VERSIONS OF A MULTI-LAYER PERCEPTRONS MODEL USE TO RECOGNIZE CLOUD TYPES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN A LISP PROGRAMMING ENVIRONMENT. THE LEARNING PHASE OF THE MODEL IS COMPUTATIONAL INTENSIVE. THUS, IT IS NATURAL TO IMPLEMENT SUCH A MODEL ON PARALLEL PROCESSORS WHICH PROMISE UNLIMITED INCREASE IN COMPUTING POWER. THE MODEL LEARNS FROM A SMALL SET OF SIMPLE TRAINING SAMPLES OF CLOUD TYPES. IT WOULD BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE NEW SAMPLES WITH STRUCTURES SIMILAR TO WHAT IS LEARNED AND LABEL THEM WITH THE CORRECT CLASSIFICATION.
