Research abstract

As the start of a set of Tools for designers of instructional games for the military, we propose to create (1) a prototype online Database of Relevant Papers, Articles and Books, (2) a prototype online Database of Military Personnel Working with Games (3)a prototype Advisory Tool allowing an instructional game designer to find the answers or best advice to questions they have, and context-appropriate suggestions from the literature, and (4) a prototype Template Game in the area of Situational Awareness, tobe populated with content from two different training areas. The benefits to the military will be increased quality, speed and coordination in the creation of games for military training and other military purposes such as recruiting, readiness andretention. The commercial benefits will be the creation of online game-based learning templates that can be sold to schools and corporations.
