Research abstract
The ability to produce feature templates in a rapid manner is paramount to target planners. The successful application of an automated template generation capability is desperately needed for emerging weapon systems. These systems require the ability totarget and re-target given installations and facilities at a moments notice. This work will be directed at a particular weapon system - JASSM. However, the development of this capability will enhance all mission planning systems that require a templatedescription of the targeted area to accomplish their missions. This effort will result in a prototype system that will enable JASSM personnel to assess their ability to rapidly generate a feature template of the target area. This work will provide a software baseline that will include the development of an AutomatedTemplate Generation (ATG) capability and its integration into an Automated Mission Template System (AMTS) on both the Windows NT/2000 and Unix platforms. This modular software system will be provided to AFRL and JASSM with full source code and sufficientdocumentation to enable independent execution and testing on DPPDB (Digital Point Positioning Data Base) imagery products; thereby, enabling its use with other systems such as JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) and SDB (Small Diameter Bomb).
