Research abstract

For the next generation imaging equipment, CdZnTe/CdTe sensors are urgently needed unless a new semiconductor can be found. This Small Business Innovation Research project addresses the issues which prevent the wide applications of CdZnTe for roomtemperature radiation detection. The scientific approach of this project is to introduce an appropriate amount of deep-level defects or impurities to pin the Fermi level at the middle of the bangap while minimizing the undesired carrier traps. In PhaseI, using a specific innovative process, excellent CdZnTe radiation detectors were obtained. In Phase II, four different processes will be carried out for producing state-of-the-art CdZnTe detectors. By the end of the Phase II period, 1
