Research abstract
"The production of educational content is traditionally labor intensive and requires significant software development skills, time and resources. Traditionally, trainers using Computer Based Training (CBT) do not have the software background or expertiseto rapidly create stimulating content for their students. DiSTI believes that by leveraging previously developed EGO (Encapsulated Graphical Object) technology it can rapidly produce a graphical interactive content generation capability that will createEncapsulated Graphical Learning Objects (EGLOs). DiSTI proposes to extend its current GL Studio product to allow for the creation of these reusable, realistic and highly interactive, SCORM compliant EGLOs. In one example, a set of EGLOs simulating testequipment and another simulating bread-boarded circuits can be selected from a repository to be included in a training course. The resulting course would allow for effective training in basic electronics, as the behaviors of both the test equipment andcircuit electronics would be completely simulated. EGLOs will include the ability to be deployed through standard web servers and web clients, be interactive with other EGLOs and other SCORM components, and be accessible through repositories for inclusionin pedagogically correct training allowing a high return on investment and stimulating content for the student. An authoring tool that can create ELGO (Encapsulated Graphical Learning O
