Research abstract
Not Available The Navy requires prognostic computer software applications interfaced to deployed equipment diagnostic software to estimate the time to failure or time to maintenance action for high-value machinery. ORINCON has developed the RIPPENr real-time information processing and prototyping software application over the past nine years, and has been extending it into machinery diagnostic and prognostic applications for two years. The RIPPEN-MDS product is a single-solution answer to the Navy's requirement. In this Phase I SBIR effort, ORINCON will demonstrate the power of this approach by developing an open-systems interface that will allow the transfer of data from an existing shipboard condition-based maintenance (CBM) system to RIPPEN-MDS, and by developing demonstration diagnostic and prognostic analysis tools. ORINCON will also produce a software design document and interface control document for the human-system interface (HIS), which functionally will be a user-configurable graphical user interface. In Phase II, ORINCON will optimize the prognostic and HSI modules utilizing CBM database data for three types of Naval equipment, and will demonstrate the software in both a land-based and shipboard environment. The Phase III transition of this project will be a RIPPEN-MDS toolbox, available on a commercial basis, incorporating specific prognostic implementations of high value to the Navy.
