Research abstract
This proposed effort is to evaluate the various Multichip Module technologies available in term of technology maturity and ability to manufacture large scale production quantities with a supply base that will allow the military ground vehicle manufacturers and automobile industry to include this technology in thier designs for antiskid brake systems and traction control systems. The technology appears to be mature enough to satisfy performance requirements, the risk appears to be in the ability of to establish an adequate supply base to assure uninterrupted production at the expected rate. In addition, cost of implementing this technology into the vehicle must be compared to other options for implementing the same functions. A top level design of a Traction Control System and the MCM will be furnished as part of the data package for Phase I of the project. Anticipated Benefits: If successful this project will provide improvements in technical performance, cost/benefit ratio, reliability, durability, size, weight and maintainability for Antiskid Brakes Systems and Traction Control Systems for both military and civilian vehicles.
