Research abstract

Not Available Ceradyne is proposing enhanced based armor (EBA) technology for protecting the AAAV. The EBA technology is based on several components (made of different materials), combined together to achieve enhanced capabilities. The proposal details alternative design solutions based on existing EBA technology developed by Rafael. The alternative designs will provide lighter weights, based upon utilizing high performance ceramic materials developed and produced by Ceradyne. The target overall areal density may be less than 17 pounds per square foot depending upon the specific design. Will provide lightweight armor capable of sustaining AAAV threats. Can be applied to other vehicles based upon modular concepts.
