Research abstract
Not Available Control design for a new system can be a lengthy, expensive effort. Currently, available automated assistance in this design task is extremely limited, especially for nonlinear systems requiring robust, adaptive design. Herein is proposed the development of a rapid design tool for robust, adaptive control of nonlinear systems, with particular application to missile Autopilot. This design tool, given a system model, will automatically implement any of a suite of control methodologies, including robust and adaptive techniques. A mode-switching capability will also be incorporated. By offering the designer a palette of nonlinear control options that can be immediately implemented and tested, the rapid design tool will drastically reduce the time required for control design prototyping. The design tool will be evaluated through simulation with a six-DOF ship defense missile model.
