Research abstract

MTL SYSTEMS PROPOSES TO DEVELOP A RAPID 'GO-NO-GO' TEST METHOD TO PROVIDE FLIGHT-LINE ASSESSMENT OF PERFORMANCE DEGRADATION OF BOTH CRT AND MATRIX COCKPIT DISPLAYS. THE PHASE I PROGRAM IS STURCTURED TO PROVIDE DEMONSTRATION WITH LOW COST, COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT THAT: - SIMPLE TEST PATTERNS CAN BE GENERATED REDILY WITH CONTENT ADEQUATE FOR ASSESSING DISPLAYS DEGRADATION. - A REALISTIC SENSOR SUCH AS A CCD VIDEO CAMERA CAN BE EMPLOYED AS THE MONITORING DEVICE. - DIGITAL COMPARITIVE PROCESSING CAN ASSESS DEGRADATION BY INDICATING DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE INPUT TEST PATTERN AND THE DISPLAYED IMAGE. THE PHASE I PROGRAM WILL CULMINATE IN A WELL QUANTIFIED DESIGN THAT CAN BE UTILIZED AS THE STARTING POINT IN THE PHASE II MODEL SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.
