Research abstract

FGM will build the Cartographic Animation System (CAS) using an existing GIS display system (MacCIDSS) which FGM has developed as a basis, and integrate commercial animation tools extended to address geospatial data. Since MacCIDSS already displays temporal data over standard DMA-type maps, GFM will simply add the animation capability needed to produce the CAS. FGM will create a cartographic media type to handle the geospatial data. Temporal data is already associated with GIS data in MacCIDSS. The combination of these two elements will provide a CAS which significantly exceeds the Phase I requirements. FGM will build a generic cartographic odel CAS using object-oriented technology to ensure the CAS can be easily adapted to other applications.
