THIS PROPOSAL IS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INNOVATIVE LIQUIDCHROMATOGRAPHY-MASS SPECROMETRY (LC/MS) INTERFACE. THE APPROACH INVOLVES USING CROSSED-BEAM TECHNOLOGY TOGETHER WITH SPUTTERING SECONDARY MOLECULAR IONS FROM LIQUID DROPLET SURFACES. PHASE I WILL TEST THE VALIDITY OF THIS APPROACH.
