Research abstract

ON-SITE DISPOSAL OF REGULATED MEDICAL WASTE CAN OFFER MAJOR ECONOMIC AND OTHER BENEFITS TO HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. HCL EMISSIONS POSE A CONSIDERABLE TECHNICAL PROBLEM IN THE DESIGN OF ON-SITE UNITS. A SOLID ABSORBENT CAN OFFER SIGNIFICANT ADVANTAGES IN COST AND SIMPLICITY RELATIVE TO THE CONVENTIONAL WET SRUBBING APPROACH IN HCL CONTROL. THE PROPOSED PHASE I PROGHRAM WILL INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF FOUR APPROACHES TO CREATING SUCH AN ABSORBENT AND WILL EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE RESULTING SAMPLES.
