Research abstract

Redondo Optics Inc. (ROI), an Opterro Inc. subsidiary, proposes to design, build, laboratory and field test, and demonstrate to the Navy an innovative, miniature, lightweight, low power, wireless communication, highly multiplex distributed fiber optic MOMS-accelerometer sensor (DiMOMS™) system suitable for the in-situ, real-time, distributed measurement of acceleration structural modes within large-span flexible airframe structures such as the LMA X56-A aircraft. In Phase I, ROI in collaboration with a strategic aerospace partner will be committed to the engineering development of a flight ready DiMOMS™ accelerometer technology to demonstrate its accurate and reliable performance for the in-situ, real time, monitoring of structural modes dynamics of air platforms under all flight maneuver conditions. In Phase II, ROI will demonstrate the performance of a flight-ready distributed DiMOMS™ accelerometer system to the Navy program manager and Navy technical personnel involve in aircraft flight and structural control.
