Research abstract

Power consumption in microprocessors is repidly increasing. Reconfigurable computing using FPGA chips offers the opportunity for increased performance and capabilitiy at reduced power consumption. Star Bridge Systems is producing reconfigurable hardwareand a high level object oriented programming language to effectively and efficiently program FPGA and/or microprocessor systems. Honeywell Space Systems is building a reconfigurable computer (called an HRSC) for space applications. Star Bridge willdevelop the Viva software development platform for programming the HRSC system.
