Research abstract
Adroit Systems, Inc. (ASI) is proposing to develop the concept of a geometric vector that is updated by deeply integrated avionics sensor data. Deep integration is a technique of sensor fusion that promises greater performance and robustness than possible with cascaded frameworks. Many of today's federated avionics sensor suites do not provide outputs that facilitate deep integration. The solution is to develop a vector of platform based geometric quantities such as position, velocity, attitude and time, and update this vector with raw information obtained from avionics sensors. ASI intends to investigate this problem as it relates to military aircraft missions, specifically the multiple platform, multiple target sensor-to-shooter problem. Phase I will begin with an investigation into the impact various avionics sensors have on geometric vector. The second part of Phase I will be a study into how the geometric vector will benefit various airborne military missions in the multiple platform, multiple target scenario. This deep integration architecture will lead to better accuracy, robustness, timeliness, and resource use in the sensor-to-shooter problem.
