Research abstract

Triton will develop and demonstrate a low-cost, expendable ocean float that can be deployed in large numbers in open ocean or in arctic regions. A novel mechanical design uses modern manufacturing techniques to achieve performance at low cost. A tracking concept is proposed leveraging acoustic network techniques. Float data will be processed to reconstruct Lagrangian pathways. Performance of float deployments based on survey location will be predicted.
