Research abstract

For Phase I, MicroAsembly Technologies has designed novel MEMS sensor technology to reduce failures of USAF penetrating munitions. The continuation of this work in phase II will take the technology from the design stage, through prototyping, ready forproduction. This novel technology is in the form of linear and rotational micro-electromechanical (MEMS) sensors. The use of these small size, low cost, and highly robust sensors in USAF munitions will increase damage on target and decrease bothcollateral damage and cleanup costs. The work performed was (1) determine parameters for and (2) design of MEMS for reduction of failures in USAF penetrating munitions.
