Research abstract

A study is proposed to determine which combination of side-aarm vs center-stick and passive vs active configuration of electronic controllers will provide the best configurtion and weight reduction when applied as a tilt rotor aircraft control manipulator. The effort will include a comprehensive survey of all existing military and commercial fixed and rotary wing aircraft utilizing center-stick and/or side-arm controllers. A prototype system will be developed and tested inboth the laboratory and the V-22 FCSIR, and flight tested as a back-up controller in the V-22.
