Research abstract

A SMALL SCALE WASTE COLLECTION SYSTEM WILL BE DESIGNED AND EVALUATED TO DETERMINE POTENTIAL EFFECTIVENESS OF FOUR DIFFERENT DEGREES OF CONTAINMENT OF NET PANS; 5, 50, 60, AND100 PERCENTS. EFFECTIVENESS OF THE COLLECTION UNIT WILL BE EVALUATED BY MONITORING EFFICIENCY OF PHOSPHOROUS, SUSPENDED SOLIDS AND DOB LOAD REMOVAL AT EACH OF THE FOUR CONFIGURATIONS. OTHER OPERATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS INTERFERENCE WITH TYPICAL OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OR REDUCTION OF WATER QUALITY WITHIN PENS WILL ALSO BE MAINTAINED AND EVALUATED.
