Research abstract

1A novel coating formulation is proposed which will be easily removable upon demand. The new formulation is based upon state of the art Navy aircraft topcoat technology, and thus will be capable of being easily adapted to feild use. No hazardous chemicals or spaying techniques are required for coating removal. The approach reduces the flammability of the coating. Phase I involves selection and developement of the most promising formulations with a small scale demonstration of the removal process on sample panels. Phase I will show effective coating removal without subtsrate harm. Phase II consists of a scale-up of the process to determine the operational and industrial effectiveness of the approach.
