Research abstract
Not Available Many existing weapons and platforms presently have Fixed Reception Pattern Antennas (FRPAs) that have no AJ GPS capability. There is a desire to upgrade these systems to incorporate AJ antennas. This SBIR topic solicitation desires a FRPA that provides a minimum of 20-dB attenuation of signals that are less than 5 degrees above the horizon and 0-dB gain for angles greater than 20 degrees above the horizon. In addition, the antenna should mount conformally to the top of the weapon on a flat surface and should fit in the existing 3-inch aperture. Toyon Research Corporation proposes to develop a small FRPA that is designed to provide nulling of GPS jammers on the ground while still allowing reception of GPS satellite signals. Our approach is to use an innovative design methodology, which we have been using successfully to develop small, single element, AJ GPS controlled receive pattern antennas. Specifically, Toyon will use our techniques for designing Electronically Reconfigurable Antennas (ERA) to develop a 7-cm, anti-jam FRPA for retrofitting JSOW missile GPS antennas.
