Research abstract
MTL Systems, Inc. proposes to develop and qualify the preliminary design of an Innovative Infrared (IR) Scene Generator using Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) Databases. The development will take advantage of an existing real-time infrared scene generator developed by MTL, tentatively called IR-Scene, to develop and demonstrate critical aspects of design in Phase I. By using an existing product as a cornerstone, we can greatly reduce the risk inherent in a real-time simulation, and at the same time reduce development costs. The first objective is to determine the difference between MTL's existing IR Scene and the USAF's requirements, delineating the work that needs to be done. The third and fourth objectives are to conceive, design, and qualify software that must b written and the computing system needed to run the software. For the fifth objective, we will conceive, design, and qualify the integration into a test facility, specifically the Benefield Anechoic Facility at Edwards Air Force Base, Ca. Our sixth and final objective, as is always the case with a SBIR, will be to determine additional areas of commercialization.
