Research abstract
We will develop an innovative chemotherapeutic preparation composed of a Magnetically Targeted Carr(MTCtm) to which paclitaxel (taxol)is reversibly adsorbed (MTC-pac). MTC-pac is infused into the captumor site and localized by a small extracorporeal magnet positioned over the malignancy. Magneticalwill concentrate paclitaxel tot he tumor site while mitigating systemic drug levels and toxic side eand evaluate three iron/carbon composites, [Fe30%C30%], [Fe60 % C40%] and [Fe50% C50%] which vary insusceptibility and drug loading capacity. These magnetically-susceptible, parenteral drug deliveryto adsorb sufficient quantities of paclitaxel under ambient conditions and adsorb the paclitaxel undconditions with a therapeutically beneficial profile. The physiochemical properties of MTC-pac and tprofile of paclitaxel from the carrier will be characterized by quantitative HPLC. The technologicaldelivered drugs are that it eliminates the need for potentially harmful surfactants; has high radiogmagnetic responsiveness which allows precise parenteral delivery and magnetic positioning; providesrestricted to the localized site; and is universally applicable to all soluble drugs.
