Research abstract

We propose to develop vision stimulators at the full resolution of human vision: brightness, dynamic range, resolution, refresh rate and gamut. Emissive silicon pixels work today and are already bright, (350 Foot-Lamberts), polychromic (white), small (below 2um active zones), fast psecs), reliable, and extremely low-cost (6 mask steps). They can be built in standard SMOS manufacturing facilities in standard VLSI silicon designs, without use of III-V materials or phosphors.; In phase I, we will develop specifications and prove components to support ultimate resolution human vision research. In Phase II, we will test, validate and characterize design rules, cell libraries, manufacturing equipment, test equipment and materials to engineer and produce usable parts.
