Research abstract

This software development project will produce, disseminate, and support an important class of numemodeling resources for NIH-funded, academic bioengineering research groups. The suite consists of 3Ddifference computer modeling codes for ultrasound propagation and scattering, piezoelectric transduceffects, material nonlinearities, large-deformation elasticity, electromagnetic propagation and scatfluid flow. We will promote and tailor this broad-spectrum suite for NIH academic researchers at litavailable on the Internet, and provide code support/training via an in-house server to the World Widsuite will be unbundled and sold commercially to medical equipment manufacturers and elsewhere withisector. These modeling capabilities are computer intensive, the algorithms are numerically sophisticprovide many ancillary capabilities to be effective, e.g., model building, visualization, signal prooften prove difficult or impractical for academic researchers to develop and support. Commercial verinadequate for the researchers' needs. This provides us a window of opportunity for a much wider nicsimulation software market.
