Research abstract
Future USAF engine goals cannot be met without Baseline Analysis Techniques for critical IHPTET Manufacturing Processes. A computer simulation model will be developed which has animated video representations of each process highlighting material, labor and other process elements. Specifically, the Phase I program will provide (1) Computer Simulation of Baseline Process: A computer simulation model will be developed for each critical baseline process, selected from materials/components of importance to the USAF. (2) Proof of Concept: Baseline concept proof will be demonstrated by prediction of manufacturing cost data, where available, and refinement of process elements by iteration. (3) Documentation and Deliverables: Deliverables are an operator's manual and IBM PC formatted diskettes containing the model. At the beginning of the contract, "hands-on" instruction will be provided to three USAF personnel on computer aided process improvement modeling to assist in communication and to provide an essential common experience base.
