Research abstract
Not Available Crevice corrosion detection and mitigation is a difficult area of research. Crevice corrosion affects the Navy ship sea water system and results in expensive manpower and maintenance cost. Past research are mainly focused on crevice corrosion detection, fouling detection, material selection and boundary element analysis for the anode placement and current requirements of the ICCP system. Reliable prediction and mitigation of crevice corrosion is one of the single most important aspect for the condition based maintenance (CBM) of the sea water system and currently no commercial product is available. In this project a unified approach that would combine the available technology in a judicious manner to detect an mitigate crevice corrosion. Multi-Sensor fusion and condition based maintenance techniques would be used to develop a Smart ICCP system.
