Research abstract

LOGSPOT will be designed as a PC software tool that will provide automated support at the operations and tactical levels for rapid, accurate logistics and ammunition site selection. Force relocation will be supported with future implementations. Thesoftware will be a GIS (Geographic Information System) based template using environmental and resource inputs for positioning and documenting and reporting results. ESRI mapping information will be used to evaluate and qualify deconflicted areas forrelocation consideration. GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) positioning data will be input after positioning to positively document asset siting for accurate reporting. All software and hardware employed in development and deployment is COTS. GPS, ESRIand inventory data will be integrated with ammunition positioning requirements and operations level tactics and plans. The safety measures outlined in technical and field manuals for Class III packaged and bulk fuel will be considered in addition toammunition storage safety measures. This tool will also allow site planners to operate at both peacetime and wartime conditions to further ensure the success of the Objective Force initiatives. Inventory levels will be tracked through consumption, usageand replenishment.
