THIS RESEARCH WILL DEVELOP A LIBRARY OF REUSABLE SOFTVARE FAULT TOLERANT (SWFT) COMPONENTS ENCOMPASSING RECOVERY BLOCKSR N-VERSION PROGRAMMING, AND OTHEI' FAULT TOLERANT TECHNIQUES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE COTNPLETE LOGICAL REDUNDANCY. TRHE! LIBRARY VILL TE DEVELOPED USING AN OBJECT-ORIENTED APPROACH. THE COMPONENTS WIL)^ INCORPORATE PROVISIONS FOR FAULT INJECTION TESTING TO ALLOV FOR RELIABILJ^TY ASSESSMENT ON THE UNITR SUBSYSTEMR AND SYSTEM LEVELS. TO RENDER REUSE MCIRE EFFECTIVE, A DOMAIN-SPECIFIC REPOSITORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING THE RELI<IBILITY LIBRARY FRAMEVORK (ELF) DEVELOPED UNDER THE STARS PROGRAM ^FILL TE CREATE(L . A DEMONSTRATION SYSTEM IMPLEMENTING DISTRIBUTED RECOVERY BLOCKS ON A NETWORK OF VORKSTATIONS ^FILL BE BUILT USING COMPONENTS FROM THE LIBRARY. THE RESULTS OF THIS DEMONSTRATION VLLL BE USED TO ASSESS HOW VELL THE LIBRARY AND DEVELI3PED COMPONENTS ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF DEVELOPERS AND OVERCO.IE CURRENTLY KNOWN ^PROBLEMS OF REUSABLE SOFTWARE.
