Research abstract

LANGUAGE IS THE BINDING FORCE OF A NATION AND SERVES AS THE COMMUNICATION TOOL FOR ITS PEOPLE. THE DIVERSIFICATION OF LANGUAGES AMONG VARIOUS NATIONS IN THE WORLD CREATES THE LANGUAGE BARRIER WHICH IS ONE OF THE MAJOR CAUSES FOR WORLD DISORDER. MACHINE TRANSLATION HOLDS THE KEY TO SOLVE THE LANGUAGE BARRIER. CITAC COMPUTER, INC., HAS SUCCESSFULLY DESIGNED THE WORLD'S FIRST GENUINE CHINESE-TO-ENGLISH TRANSLATION MACHINE FOR TRANSLATING CHINESE SENTENCES AND TEXT INTO IDIOMTIC ENGLISH. ALTHOUGH THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION GENERATED BY CITAC VERSION 1 IS IDIOMTICALLY CORRECT; IT MAY BE GRAMMATICALLY WRONG DUE TO THE RADICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE CHINESE LANGUAGE AND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO CONDUCT RESEARCH FOR THE DESIGN OF A SELF-CORRECTION SCHEME FOR ENGLISH GRAMMAR IMPROVEMENT IN CHINESE-TO-ENGLISH MACHINE TRANSLATION A REALITY IN COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS.
