Research abstract

A magnetic bearing actuator is proposed based on new material technology. The new materials hold the promise of lower weight, smaller volume, and higher performance magentic bearings for turbopumps and commercial rotating machinery. The effort proposed herein will prove the new materials through extensive testing and application to a cryogenic turbopump.
