Research abstract

The scope of the Phase1 program is to design a Ground-to-Air Atmospheric Transmission measurement system.  The designed system will be comprised of blackbody and visible sources mounted on a UAS, and ground-based spectrometers mated with a tracking system.  Product research will be completed to identify spectrometers, blackbody and visible sources, and a UAS platform that will enable measurements over wavelengths of 0.2-14?m and altitudes up to 10,000feet.  Initial software algorithms will be written to load the output spectrometer data and convert it into transmittance measurement able to be applied as a correction actual IR signature measurements.  Proof-of-concept demonstration test will be completed at ground level and over visible-to-near IR wavelengths to show the proposed system design is a viable solution.
