Research abstract

In this ONR STTR Phase II effort, SkyNano will partner with the University of Tennessee Knoxville to develop novel 3-D printable concrete materials embedded with CO2-derived carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to improve mechanical and functional performance of 3D printed concrete structures,Āand improve forward-operational capabilities of the Navy. ĀSkyNano will work to scale-up our current carbon dioxide conversion to carbonaceous materials technology, and partner with the University of Tennessee Knoxville to demonstrate an ideal defense use-case for composites embedded with CO2-derived solid carbon materials. ĀWe anticipate the developed 3D printed concrete will demonstrate improved printability, improved strength, improved functionality in sensing capabilities, and increase overall operational security and monitoring of health and structure of buildings.
