Research abstract

Every second is crucial when assessing the intention of approaching vessels. Acoustic hailing systems are crucial in naval vessels as they enable the hailing of approaching vessels while remaining outside the threat zone, reducing the risk to all involved personnel.   Existing acoustic hailing solutions are large, heavy, and have only ~180-degree operational coverage. Additionally, existing hailers require manual steering, which requires them to be mounted in valuable deck space and delays the response to approaching threats. In existing solutions for full 360-degree operational coverage, two acoustic hailers are required, further increasing the size and weight requirements for the system.  OneLight Sensing is delighted to propose a marinized acoustic hailing system effective to 1000 meters in open water that fits within the Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) capabilities of 30 to 40 foot craft. OneLight Sensing’s key innovation is a fixed mount, 360-degree electronically steerable system, mounted under/near the radar system, easily fitting into the Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) capabilities of 30 to 40 foot craft. This solution frees valuable deck space and ensures immediate threat response capability.  Through the proposed development program, the OneLight Sensing team will develop and demonstrate the high capability of Omnihailer acoustic hailing system.
