Research abstract
A wealth of signals intelligence data presents both opportunities and challenges to today’s intelligence analyst. On one hand, the probability of capturing meaningful information increases with the volume of data captured, but on the other, the complexity of the software required to find this information also increases. On top of this, the diverse sources of data and software products to analyze them lead to a proliferation of data storage systems, resulting in interoperability challenges. The Topological Anomaly Detection (TAD) system described in this proposal aims to address both issues by providing an anomaly detection capability based on a novel approach to identifying suspicious financial transactions, packaged in a way that allows it to interoperate with a diverse range of data sources and user interfaces using standard web technologies.
