Research abstract

Atomos will design and develop an advanced in-space refueling interface featuring a passive side on the client spacecraft and an active side on the servicer spacecraft. This interface will support high-pressure propellants, including krypton and xenon. Additionally, Atomos will conduct a feasibility assessment to determine necessary modifications for compatibility with existing government-sponsored and commercially available refueling interfaces. The design will incorporate features enabling automated operations such as engagement, fluid transfer, and disengagement. Atomos will build, qualify, and deliver a flight-qualified interface to the government. Compliance with performance, functional, and lifetime requirements, as well as compatibility with CONOPs, will be demonstrated using Atomos's 5DOF air bearing testbed.
