Research abstract

The current handguard solution used by SOCOM on the Sig Sauer Rattler .300BO weapon system with a Sig Sauer SLH Suppressor is difficult to remove for maintenance due to its complex mounting system, and it becomes too hot to handle during moderate use. Efficient maintenance and comfortable handling are crucial for both safety and effectiveness. To address these issues, Virati, LLC proposes multiple variations to the existing handguard solution, aimed at simplifying maintenance and reducing heat transfer. These improvements will significantly enhance the user experience and overall performance of the Sig Sauer weapon system.     Furthermore, Virati's handguard technology is designed to be beneficial for future firearms using higher velocity projectiles, which could generate even more heat. This innovation has the potential to be broadly applicable across various firearm platforms for SOCOM and the broader DoD
