Research abstract

Triton Systems proposes to develop and demonstrate the feasibility of a novel, easy to maintain erosion resistant coating for use in air cushioned vehicles (ACV). In Phase I, we will develop and evaluate polymer composites and nanocomposites that have optimized erosion protection. We will combine these materials with pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) to enable facile in-field maintenance/repair and ultimately demonstrate these composite tapes for ACV erosion resistant coatings. We will leverage our expertise in polymer composites, pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs), and maintainability to ensure our solution results in overall lowered maintenance effort and cost. In Phase II, we will refine the composite tapes, scale up production, and deliver a prototype to be installed on an actual ACV component or test platform to demonstrate durability and wear performance.
