Research abstract

Windu is an AI agent designed to automate space warfare procedures and checklists currently performed manually by NSDC operators.Space Domain Awareness (SDA) tasks are highly resource-intensive, requiring total concentration and extensive time commitment from trained operators. For instance, conducting a Relative Proximity Operation (RPO) analysis between adversarial (red) and friendly (blue) satellites demands up to an hour of operator time. This process involves meticulously examining various data products, including Waterfall Plots, Residual Plots, TRIC plots, 3D Visualization, and Initial Orbit Determination/Orbit Determination (IOD/OD), and comparing and contrasting the perceptions of different sensor providers.  After analyzing the data, operators must compile their insights and effectively communicate them up the chain of command to assess their impact on the overall mission. Windu revolutionizes this approach by functioning as a Digital Guardian. Compliant with the stringent standards of the National Space Defense Center (NSDC) and Joint Commercial Operations Cell (JCO), Windu can complete the above RPO analysis in a mere 60 seconds. It offers dependable, consistent results that adhere to the JCO's procedural standards and can handle multiple tasks concurrently—significantly enhancing operational efficiency and speeding up strategic decision-making in SDA tasks.Through integration with Chat Ops tools like Mattermost, Windu enables direct operator access to its capabilities or incorporates them into automated machine-to-machine workflows, facilitating swift task execution. Windu provides outputs in a user-friendly visual format through the chat interface, ensuring operators receive well-analyzed, timely data.Developed on robust DevSecOps principles, Windu is poised for deployment via Space Cockpit's Authority to Operate (ATO), which is already active across NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS networks. This ATO guarantees a secure and effective environment for critical mission operations, positioning Windu as an essential tool in SDA operations.Windu addresses several of the Department of the Air Force's Operational Imperatives:Operationally Focused ABMS: Windu is already integrated with the Unified Data Library, enabling it to analyze live data from multiple sensor providers across various phenomenologies.Space Order of Battle: Windu can track the status and composition of foreign adversary space assets and capabilities, providing a snapshot of the current battlespace and trends over time.Moving Target Assessment: Windu's automation will be critical for engaging multiple dynamic threats simultaneously.Readiness to Deploy and Fight: Windu has been developed and tested to a TRL-7 level as a prototype in an operational setting with the JCO and can be deployed within classified environments (SIPR and JWICS) using Space Cockpit’s Authority to Operate (ATO).
