Research abstract

The ASEC team will develop multi-domain manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) training focused on tactical decision-making, timelines of action, transparency, trust, immediacy and clarity of decision, and other performance parameters. Training will be integrated into an instructional course and lesson strategies to achieve operational training objectives for the integration of ASEC’s Lockblade Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). Applying learning sciences, each performance objective will be mapped to a specific relevant instructional training strategy, Instructor Led and Instructorless classroom and field training materials. ASEC has developed a UAS which is deployed from the P-8A, to autonomously perform a pre-programmed mission, provide real-time sensor data to the aircraft, and respond to operator command and control inputs to modify flight plans and adjust performance characteristics. ASEC will develop and implement for evaluation, the training necessary for operators on a manned aircraft to program and control this UAS inflight. Alternate sensor suites which may be utilized for training and evaluation include Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Autonomous High-Value Target (HVT) Tracking, Electronic Surveillance Measures (ESM) Relay, Communications Relay, Directed Microphone, Package Delivery, or Unattended Sensor Placement.
